Prefabricated Prostheses
The Maramed line of prefabricated prostheses (PFP) is a modular adjustable trans-tibial socket system that provides immediate postoperative and early prosthetic care. The PFP is initially fit over the wound dressings and bandages. The system accepts shrinkers or soft socks, as the volume of the healing residuum fluctuates. Foam distal end pads provide initial distal contact, which prepares the patient for weight bearing and ambulation within days of the amputation. The removable socket allows the rehabilitation team to thoroughly monitor and clean the healing residuum. The socket also protects the residuum from accidental impact trauma which can greatly delay rehabilitation. When used in conjunction with the outer socket retainer, the PFP permits immediate controlled weight bearing. Complete prosthetic component packages are available for all levels of activity. The prostheses are completely radiolucent, as they are made from polypropylene and polyethylene plastic, allowing them to be modified and trimmed for a more custom fit.
